• 1. What is PlayLocal?

  • PlayLocal is a social network that connects tennis players to public tennis courts and similarly skilled players. By taking the guessing out of court availability, we ensure an awesome experience free of waiting in lines, awkwardly wondering which group to request to move or leaving work early just to get your name on a list only to return to play hours later.
    
    The company was founded by Babson College MBA Alumni. The company headquarters are located in Massachusetts, USA.

• 2. How does tennis court reservation work?

  • Everything about our service is designed to get you on the court quickly. Hop on to our website or one of our mobile apps. a. Search for a time and place, and we will provide you a list of courts from which to choose. b. Book your court ahead of time. c. Show up on the court with your reservation on your mobile phone. We partner directly with the cities so the reservation is a permit. d. Enjoy a great uninterrupted game!

• 3. What if someone is playing on the court during my reservation time?

  • You will receive an email with each reservation. This email is a permit to play on the specified court at the specified time. a. Please show the proof of reservation to the players on that court to claim your reservation time. Email or print out is fine. b. All venues have signage indicating which courts can be reserved. You can direct the players to the signs. c. Invite them to download the app and make a reservation next time. Our experience shows that they will thank you! If you still have an issue, please write us at support@playlocal.com with your phone number to call you.

• 4. What do I do if there is something wrong with the court?

  • Please notify us immediately at support@playlocal.com. This is a group effort and we count on you to let us know if your experience was less than perfect or if a court is unplayable. Your timely information could save your fellow players time and effort to get to the court and can help your city’s recreation department correct any issue immediately.

• 5. Can I cancel a reservation?

  • Absolutely. We understand that plans change or the weather does not cooperate. Please cancel as early as possible if you are not going to honor the reservation to allow other players to book the venue. You can cancel at any time prior to your reserved time. Refunds (if applicable for paid reservations) are provided based on our cancellation policy.

• 6. What is the Cancellation/Refund Policy?

  • We understand that plans change or the weather does not cooperate. Please cancel as early as possible if you are not going to honor the reservation to allow other players to book the venue. You can cancel at any time prior to your reserved time.
    
    Paid Reservations Full refund will be provided for any paid reservations if cancelled 24 hours before the local venue’s reserved time. Any cancellations made within 24 hours of the local venue’s reserved time will not qualify for a refund. Cancellations may be made from the Activity page. Refunds normally show up on your account within 3-5 business days.
    
    Cancellation by Venues While we make every effort to ensure that your reservation is honored, venue’s reserve the right to cancel reservations at any time for any reason (typically due to conflicts like construction, high-school tournaments, etc.). Full refunds will be issued for paid reservations in these instances.

• 7. Aren’t public courts free?

  • We LOVE free courts. Most of the public courts on our platform are free. We have found that some cities charge a fee for the following reasons: • Help pay for the lights at the tennis courts • Fee for non-residents to give preference to residents of their community The fee for a reservation is determined by the city. Any money collected goes right back to the courts you love minus a small transaction fee. The PlayLocal platform is provided free to cities and colleges.

• 8. When will this service come to my city/town/college/local club?

  • Our plan is to help as many communities as possible. You can help us build support for bringing PlayLocal to your community by signing a petition to your local representatives here. The service is provided free for Cities and Colleges.

• 9. Is my data safe?

  • To be clear, nothing is 100% secure and anyone who guarantees 100% security is making a promise they can’t keep. Banks, government computers, and corporations that spend billions on security can be compromised by highly motivated individuals. Here are some of the ways we protect your data: a. Your data is sent using HTTPS. b. Full redundancy for all major systems. c. Credit card transactions are processed using secure encryption on a PCI Compliant network.

• 10. How do I connect with similarly skilled players?

  • We are pulling out all stops to make sure that you find a perfect tennis match. The FREE self-service player matching service on our platform allows you to search for players by skill level, age, gender and location and reach out to them via huddles (our private chat tool). You can always opt out of player matching under settings.
    
    We are also giving out our proprietary court reservation widget to many of the player matching services out there so that they can help their users not only find the right players but find an available court right from their platform.

• 11. How do I join PlayLocal?

  • Joining PlayLocal is easy. Just click on the “Join Now” button which will then provide options to Join with Facebook or with email. If you don’t see a confirmation email when you join, please check your junk or spam folder or try joining again – sometimes people put an incorrect email address.
